OSU's Thomas Leaving for the NBA

Updated: Friday, April 5 2013, 06:37 PM EDT
COLUMBUS -- OSU star forward Deshaun Thomas will skip his senior season and turn his attention toward the NBA.

Thomas's decision to enter the 2013 NBA Draft was announced Friday through a media release from the university.

Thomas led the Big 10 in scoring in 2013, and helped the Buckeyes notch 94 victories during his 3 years in Columbus.

"My three years at Ohio State have been the best years of my life,? Thomas said in the media release.? ?I have grown tremendously as an individual and as a basketball player.? I intend to return to finish my degree, but I believe that now is the best opportunity to pursue my dream and begin my career as a professional basketball player.? I will always be a Buckeye and am blessed to be a part of the Ohio State University family."

Thomas finishes his college career as the 9th leading scorer in OSU history, helping the team win 2 conference regular season and tournament titles along the way.

?To see Deshaun grow into the man he has become has been amazing,? OSU head coach Thad Matta said. ?His accomplishments on the floor speak for themselves, but I am just as proud of him and what he has done off the floor."

OSU played in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 during each of Thomas's 3 seasons, including 2012, when the Buckeyes appeared in the Final Four.
